~How to..~ Tetris manicure!

Hello dear readers, last week my COTM nail art was very well received. The Challenge of the Month is a challenge where me and some other nail bloggers will create a manicure around the same theme to share with you. This month the theme was games and if you want to explore and discover all of the nail arts that the other finalists made you can click here. As you can already see above, this month I've made a manicure which is inspired by the Game Tetris. I usually share only the photos of a mani I created with you but I had to make quite a few steps to get this nail art on my nails. Therefore, I thought you might be interested to see how I created this nail art creation. Last week I was thinking if it could be a good idea to share nail tutorials with you more often. I'm curious what you think of this idea. Anyway today I will explain and share with you how I made this Tetris manicure, and I hope you find the results just as good as me. Continue reading for all the details...

You will not need a lot of polish to create the Tetris manicure which I will share with you in this article. But a well-covering black nail polish is a must. Lately I've been using Nr. 677 Blackout from ColorShow collection of Maybelline a lot to complet black manicures. In combination with Nr. 130 winter baby of the same brand you can make a beautiful black / white nail art creation. But because I've made so many black & white designs recently, I wanted to add some color to my fingertips in this post. It was very difficult to photograph this manicure but I hope that you can still get an overall impression of what this creation looks like. For this manicure you will need a very thin striper and your own creativity! As I have already mentioned in the introduction, you can follow a few steps to create the Tetris manicure and in the next paragraph I'll share those easy steps with you.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To make this Tetris nail art you can go through five different steps:

1. Start this nail art by applying a base coat, so you can protect your natural nails from all those layers of nail polish and staining. If your nails have dried you can grab a basic white nail polish and start making a white grid on your nails. No worries, this does not yet have to be very neat, but in this way you can make sure that the cut-out squares will have the right size.

2. When the white nail polish has dried, it is time to grab all your bright nail polishes! Here I started with an orange color and have been using my striper to complet the first cubes with orange nail polish.

3. Step 3 is to fill in a number of other blocks, alternately with different bright colors. This does not have to look very neat, because we will make black strokes to go over this manicure. Make sure you spread the different colors on your nails in order to make a beautiful pattern.

4. If a large part of the blocks of color is completed, it is time to fill in the remaining bald spots on your nails with a good covering black lacquer. You can do this quick and easy by using a thin brush.

5. The last step you can see here below. We are going to ouline the colorful squares with a black polish. This is more difficult, and I'm still not completely happy with the result, but this step adds a little more detailed look to the nail art. If your nails have dried, use a top coat to add even more shine to the manicure!
